Mission Statement

- Keep the Western Heritage alive in Pennsylvania
- Promote the highest standards of conduct and sportsmanship
- Be a family oriented association
- Contestants must maintain good academic grades to compete
- Promote further education of contestants after high school
About the PHSRA
The Pennsylvania High School Rodeo Association was established in 1990. High school students in the grades 9-12 are eligible to join. Currently there are over 80 members from four states- PA, CT, NJ and MD. The PHSRA has approximately 24 sanctioned rodeos each season, which runs from August through July. The top four competitors in each event will qualify to advance to the National High School Finals Rodeo to compete with over 1500 contestants.
In 2004, Pennsylvania established the Wrangler division, which is for youth in grades 6, 7 & 8. The Wranglers compete at some but not all of the PHSRA rodeos. They can qualify to compete at the National Wrangler Finals Rodeo held for 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
Most of the rodeos are held at arenas all across PA, but we also compete outside PA with neighboring rodeo associations throughout the year. The PHSRA provides an excellent opportunity for young people to advance in their sport while making life long friends with other contestants throughout the North East United States.
